Mission Jan 2009

Blog for my Mission in Uganda which took place December 2008 - January 2009

There is amazed walking with God.

I never expected what God's love can mean...He is sending me over to Uganda again just for couple of weeks but never mind, how a wonderful is it?! And this time I am going join with a medical team from State again. We are going to north part(area destroyed by rebels) town called Kitgum.

26.12.2008

I am leaving Scotland a bit earlier, as I love to visit children and people in Father's House, before the team arrives.
Nobody knows about me coming over there...

The flight has been so nice, I couldn't wait to see the faces of the kids once they releise I am with them...

I have got so many gifts,it's Chrismas time...when I am on the airport in Entebbe I am wearing a Santa's hat. Suzanne who came to pick me up took two oldest girls...their eyes are shining, smiles on their faces...None knew till last second I was arriving...When I am going across the gate I hear my name...Kowalczyk! The oldest ones call me by my surname to show they know how to pronounce it. Smallest call me AMERIKA:)
The way to Father's House has pass so quick, on chat with each another...

Jess and Bosco were still awake when we did get there, so I have seen few more people, the rest were already in the beds, almost midnight...

27.12.2008

Woke up early morning to get myself ready before everyone would find me in Father's House...
Very quietly going in to the smallest one's bedrooms...Can you imagine they were so suprised, sitting on the beds and haven't known what's going on...Mirka in Santa's hat! After a few seconds quiestions...what I am doing there? How I did get to Father's House??? etc...
After they are showing me their clothes...helping with dressing them up and taking over for a breakfast.
Such nice surprised for everyone...I am so exciting like every one else...

Some gifts ...for Chrismas ...
After I hear they didn't expect anything this year
All what they supposed to get have been given to others in the village. But
GOD ALREADY PREPARED EVERYTHING YOU ARE GIVING AWAY BUT I AM GIVING YOU FROM THE OTHER SIDE...

''Happy are those who are merciful to others, God will be merciful to them'' (Matthew.5.7)

Very joyful day to everyone, of course the small ones were asking from early morning for a walk (...)so we are going for a short walk on the afternoon
.

28.12.2008

Another nice day filled with a joy. On the morning a devotion after I am leaving to town meet with the Doctor K...then going together to meet and give a gifts to a lady and his a little boy. They don't expect me there Today. What's a wonderful to be part of someone's joy. The gifts for a little boy Newton and some money for his care...
I did back so late as I met with Jacky in town, girl from Father's House, then back together home.
There was a really nice day back so tired, the weather's here so hot...dry I need to remember drink a lot of water.

29.12.-31.2008

Preparing for the team which is arriving at night on 31th of December...a lot cleaning, making beds for people, laundry...food shopping as there would be over 60 people in the house soon.
When the sun isn't so hot on the late afternoon going for a walk with some of the children into the village...sharing with sweeties, toys with those met on the our way...

At night 31 sth I can hear the voices all over the house as the people have arrived to Father's House. I am so tired to get down and meet with them.

01.01.2009

New year...house full of people. So nice! There are most the same people whom have been there last year . Nothing to do...as the all boxes with all the stuff, drugs...on the airport. People there hadn't give the permission to take it straight away. First need to be checked what is really inside. All the procedure but need to remember here in Africa all takes longer
So now we have a day off, some time for a rest...Chilling together. Once we will get the boxes Tomorrow a lot work to do... Sorting and preparing everything for our trip to north of Uganda

02.01.2009

At least early afternoon we have got all boxes back and we could started sorting the stuff.
There is amazed how every single person has been working, everyone is focusing on our mision. Even the oldest children were helping as they could.

By this evening everything has been sorted and packed on the micro buses.
Some people are leaving tomorrow and going stop a day on the Safari. Then after it we all are going meet on the way to Kitgum where we going to get together as a team.

03-04.01.2009

There was a realy amazed time on the Safari. We spent a bit time together knowing each other much more before we started our work. Now there is a time...meeting the rest of the team somewhere on the way to Kitgum

05.01.2009

Before the afternoon came the all team did get together, And after a snack getting to Kitgum. Still many hours left...
The way has been realy long, got to Kitgum late. Everyone has been very tired, just something to eat, shower and bed.

06.01.2009

Early morning breakfast, nothing special...a toast, boiled egg, milk, cornflakes, banana some drink, coffee or tea...
Before we are getting on the camp we need to stop somewhere to get a water ...there is very hot so it is good to supply ourself with enough drinks.

Many people did come Today to see us, the time went so fast...once we have got on the camp...setting up our stuff, sorting the roles for every person from the team...we brought so many shoes with us so after when people have been seen by the doctors and got a medicines from ''our pharmacy'' there was a time to give a shoes away, also pray for each of them.

The co-operation was so good between everyone, us and people from the village who were giving a hand with translating on English.
Before evening came we finished work and back to the hotel. At least we were able to see over 150 people, Tomorrow it is another day...

I share a bed with Page, a girl who came over from State. She is staying in Father's House a year...It seems to be very friendly girl. The rooms which we got have got nothing in,just a big bed, some little table and very small bathrooms with a shower, not a sink in, just a bowl...
Glad that the bed has a net.

07.01.2009

Before 8 on the morning everyone had to be ready to leave , got dressed and be done with breakfast. Once we are getting on the camp, many people ALREADY are waiting for us, but there are more still coming in.

Everyone has been abused by the war and rebels, so many of them lost their families, homes ...They live without electricity, don't have any access to water...and there are miles to get some. Many of them took a miles also to get on the camp...
There is their hope for better. But there are thousand of them and we are not able to see everyone. Some of us are going through the crowd and look for really sick and weak. Some of us praying among all these people...

''Go and preach ...heal the sick, bring the dead back to life, heal those who suffer from dreaded skin diseases, and drive out demons. You have received without paying, so give without being paid...'' (Matthew 10,7-8)

Some people from the team control the crowd as everyone wants to be seen, many of are waiting hours. So sad to watch all of them waiting on the sun. The water is so a big blessing now. We are sharing it with them...

At least we have seen over 270 people, those who have been left are coming tomorrow with a new hope... Might Today.

08.01.2009

Every day we are doing much better, everyone can see God's present with us, Today we have eded with over 350 people...There were still plenty of them who came to see us but many of them needed go back with nothing. Too many people, too many needs...but the same

we believe that God will bring a joy and blessing to those all people who have no doubts about Him (Matthew, 11.6)

09.01.2009

There was very hard day...the first time in mine life i did work with a blood. Today the wound's care.
Amazed how I was strengthen...From early morning we did started with a little boy who came over with his little finger in his hand. Thanks God with us was a Surgeon so He did clean and stitch the wound.

The boy was about 9years old, didn't cry. It can only means what he had to experience in his life, I think more bad things happen to him which strengthen enough. He never showed his tears, very brave little boy.
On the same time another small boy with a deep wound in his knee. He was really in pain, couldn't stop crying. At least about an hour later we did stop the blooding ....the other Doctor did fix it.

There was amazed how we all have been working, more team's members came over with a hand to hold that boy as He was in a big pain, wasn't able to lay still, screamed over in his own language what did mean leave me alone.

Without our help He could be bleed and probably would died by the end of day.

My body was all shaking to see him, someone even got sick to see a lot of blood coming like water from the tap.
Very tough day to everyone!

10.01.2009

Today we have worked on a different camp.I have been again in the wound care. There was realy something. Sometimes I have been left alone ...a bit scary How I am going to copy with it. I am not nurse...can i take a good care of it. I was so composed when the patient were coming looking at me with their big eyes asking for a help. I didn't show up I am not sure actualy what i have been doing. With God's help i done well...
Today so many open wounds.
People there don't have a water to drink and what's about a water for taking care of . Around the wounds are so many a flies, a bags...there isn't look good also but what we can do it is clean it and put some antibiotic then praying that God is going bring a healing because what

it is impossible for human beings, for God everything is possible. (Matthew.19.26)

11.01.2009

All the team has back to the Father's House. The way back at least took us over 10 hours, such long travel...
Really good to be at HOMEsee the rest and the children...such a big joy to see all of them. Jacky prepared a meal for all people, she did good job.So many people to feed.
Unfortunately Lilly has stayed over a week in Kitgum and visited her relatives...Really hope she will have a good time with her family up there...

12.01.2009

The last day of work our medical mision, and this time in the village down next to the Father's House.
As we didn't have enough translates I did swap with Jacky. She was more useful than me...at least she could translate on English from their own language. I was back to the Father's House, took care of the kids and prepared a lunch for everyone. Quite happy, Kareen did help in the kitchen.

13.01.2009

A little time together hanging around, all the team has gone to town for a gift's shopping before their trip, some lunch in town.
Then they all gona flying back homes Tonight.

14.01.2009

All the morning cleaning the house after the team gone. Before lunch went
to town to meet with my friend's uncle and visit her's mum couple miles from Kampala, seemed to be a such nice lady. And around very late evening coming back to Father's House.

15.01.2009

A bit quiet day in the Father's House. Time with children and hanging around...Jacky is around, such nice girl, so thankful for her friendship, it helped a lot over mine time in Uganda. Wishing her everything the best...people are like Angels sent by ...she is one of them.

Around evening have visited Mery, a women who is living very close to the Father's House.I paid a school's fees for her daughter. She seemed to be so happy to see me again after a long time, almost a year after.
Mery is so proud of her daughter, sharing with Jowita's results...On 50 kids at school Jowita is 3rd. Isn't a wonderful?

16.01.2009

The last day in Uganda, some shopping in town, meeting with my friend's uncle. Already know, I am going miss everyone...
At night cuddling with the kids, to hard say bye...Eva who is just a little 5 years girl warning me that I have to come back in 2 weeks time. She even deasn't know what's it means two weeks...for her it might 2day or two months ...i think there is no different right now.

Somewhere deep inside I know I will back one day again. I don't know when it will happen but I am sure everything is coming on the right time.

''there is a right time and a right way to do everything, but we know so little'' (Ecclesiastes 8.6)
